Our McNairy County Lawn Program

One-off fertilization rarely transforms a lawn. A consistent seasonal program does. We typically apply 5-7 treatments per year, timed to West Tennessee's growing seasons:

The Annual Schedule

1. Early spring (February-March): Pre-emergent for crabgrass and other annual weeds, plus light fertilizer to wake the lawn up
2. Late spring (April-May): Second pre-emergent + balanced fertilizer + spot weed control
3. Early summer (June): Slow-release fertilizer for the heat months + targeted broadleaf weed control
4. Mid-summer (July-August): Lighter feeding (Bermuda/Zoysia thrive; Fescue we ease off) + insect monitoring
5. Early fall (September): Heavy fall feeding — the single most important application of the year for most lawns
6. Late fall (November): Winterizer + pre-emergent for winter annuals like Poa annua and chickweed

What This Fixes

• Crabgrass — the pre-emergent timing is everything. Done right in February, you don't see it all summer.
• Broadleaf weeds — dandelions, clover, henbit, chickweed, dollarweed. Spot-treated when present.
• Thin, patchy lawns — thicker turf is the best weed control. Consistent feeding gets you there over 12-18 months.
• Yellow or pale color — usually a nitrogen issue, sometimes an iron deficiency. Both fixable.

What This Doesn't Fix

If your lawn is compacted from heavy clay soil (common in McNairy County), no amount of fertilizer fixes it. You need core aeration. If your lawn is more than 50% weeds, fertilizer alone won't bring it back — you may need partial renovation. We tell you straight which case you're in.
